The fuel is used to drive an engine, to generate electricity.
Heat from the engine cooling system and from the exhaust gases are collected and used for water heating.
The overall efficiency is about 85%.
Cogeneration is best utilised in sties where there is a continuous demand for electricity and water heating. Examples of these include; Hotels, Rest Homes, Hospitals, Swimming Pools, Factories and Laundries.
Technical Application
Heat is supplied to normal heating pipe work and the electricity generated to the nearest switchboard.
The touch screen control unit monitors everything from engine temperatures, shut down systems, fluid levels to electrical voltages, phase and output monitoring.
Sizing a cogeneration unit depends on site loads for water heating and electrical loads.
Units are enclosed in an acoustic box and are barely audiable. The units are compact in size and fit comfortably into most existing plant rooms.

Energyco offers the option of delivered energy, where we own, install and operate the unit. This means the host has no capital cost and enters into a supply contract to purchase discounted heat and electricity produced by the cogeneration unit.
There are no maintenance costs and fluctuation in power prices to worry about.
